You can make a virtual tour from the listing photos you already have, without hiring a photographer or renting a 3D camera. With Path Lite you enter the property name, website and address, and Path reads the site, pulls the photos, sorts them into spaces and looks up nearby amenities in about 2 minutes. This guide walks through how that works, how to set it up, and when photos are enough versus when a 360° or 3D tour is worth it.
What a virtual tour from photos is
A photo tour turns a flat gallery into something a buyer can move through room by room. Instead of scrolling a grid of images, the buyer steps from the kitchen to the living room to the bedrooms in order, with the photos grouped by space.
In Path, a photo tour also comes with an AI concierge, Ella, who answers buyer questions by voice or text, 24/7, in 42+ languages, using the information on your website, your own instructions and nearby places from Google. The buyer can take a guided tour with Ella, who walks them through room by room, or explore on their own and ask questions as they go.
Most listings and new projects already have good photos or renderings on a website. Those images took time and money to produce, and they usually sit in a gallery that buyers skim in a few seconds.
Building the tour from those photos means you can put a guided experience in front of buyers the same day, for every listing or project, with nothing new to shoot. It also works for homes and units that are still under construction, since Path accepts 3D renderings as well as actual photos.
How Path builds a tour from listing photos
Path Lite is the photo-based option. Here is what happens after you submit the form.
Website read: Path crawls the property website you entered and collects the photos and property details on it.
Sorting into spaces: Images are classified into standard space names such as Kitchen, Living Room and Lobby. Logos, floor plans and maps are left out of the tour.
Nearby amenities: Path looks up places around the address on Google, including schools, restaurants, parks, gyms, transit and airports within 5 km.
Knowledge base: The concierge answers from the crawled website, any property details document you add, your custom instructions and those nearby places.
When the property shows Ready to Complete, you finish a short setup and the tour is live with its own public link.
Step by step setup
Create the property. In the Path dashboard, go to Properties, create a property and choose the Lite Path Experience. Enter the property name, property website and address, then submit.
Wait for Ready to Complete. Path reads the website and looks up nearby amenities. The Lite flow takes about 2 minutes.
General Info. Add a cover image, your logo and contact phone, and write custom instructions for the AI agent. Set the target audience, add a scheduling link if you use one, and choose whether your images are actual photos or 3D renderings.
Images. Review the photos Path pulled from the site, grouped by space. Delete any that do not belong and upload more if the website is missing rooms. Path sorts new uploads into spaces automatically.
AI Agent. Select the agent who will guide buyers through the tour.
Share it. Copy the public link or use the embed code from Distribution to put the tour on your website.
Before you publish, open the tour yourself and ask the questions buyers ask most. If an answer is thin, add the detail to your custom instructions or upload a property details document.
What buyers and your team get from a photo tour
Before the tour opens, each visitor enters a name, email and phone and ticks a consent box. Your team gets a new visitor alert email after a visitor's first interaction, with a summary of the conversation.
Each visitor also gets a 0-100 Conversion Score based on engagement, recency and their declared buyer profile, so the sales team knows who to call first. Buyers can book a viewing from inside the tour through your scheduling link or a meeting request. All of this is part of Path Lite, along with lead capture, qualification, scoring and the engagement analytics dashboard. Our guide to what an AI concierge for real estate does covers the conversation side in more detail.
When photos are enough
A photo tour is a good fit when you need tours on many listings quickly and the website already has a clear photo for each main room.

New projects before completion that only have renderings so far.
Brokerages that want a tour on every listing page. Our page for brokerages shows how teams roll this out.
When to go 360° or 3D
Some buyers want to look around a room in every direction or walk through the whole floor plan. That is when a 360° or 3D tour earns its place. These need Path+ or above.
Your own 360° photos: Upload one 360° photo per space and the AI names each room.
A 3D walkthrough: Link an existing Matterport tour and Path builds the guided tour from the model. Links from other providers such as Realsee and Enviz are embedded with the AI guide on top.
Have Path produce it: With white-glove production, Path's team shoots your spaces on site in 360° or builds 3D renders from your plans.
A common approach is to start every listing on photos and move flagship projects or high-interest homes to 360° or 3D later. If you already have Matterport scans, read our piece on keeping your Matterport tours while adding an AI guide.

Do I need a 3D camera to make a virtual tour?

How long does it take to create a photo tour?
